25/03/2011 - Wallix, a developer and distributor of software solutions for risk management regarding access to the critical IT infrastructure of businesses, has announced the launch of a demonstration version of Wallix AdminBation 2.2 (WAB 2.2) as a virtual machine (VM), which is accessible on line, from the company’s website (www.wallix.com).
“We receive numerous test requests from prospective customers who have read or heard about the WAB on the internet, through our clients, or through our partners. WAB VM, once it is downloaded from our website, makes it possible to meet, in practical terms, this request in a simple, direct manner. In a nutshell, it is one more service aimed at IT and IT-security managers seeking [to deploy] access-management and IT-traceability tools,” explains Jean-Noël de Galzain, CEO of Wallix.
Since 1 February 2011, visitors to the Wallix website have been able to download a VM (Virtual Machine) version of Wallix AdminBastion 2.2 (WAB 2.2) in the VMWare ESX4 format: it is supplied with all the necessary documentation for the installation and the configuration of the virtual appliance. WAB 2.2 is the latest version of Wallix’s risk-management software suite.
The downloaded WAB VM makes possible the registration of five pieces of equipment and 15 simultaneous connections. This evaluation version allows users to test the WAB solution in all its richness of applications within a production environment, and to manage access to equipment and to applications through the WAB solution. The evaluation version also enables users to create rules of access control for different users and to manage data authentication. Finally, the WAB VM makes it possible to record the actions carried out on the target equipment (in RDP or in SSH).
For businesses which have put in place a VMWare environment, testing the WAB VM is a simple way of measuring the use and relevance of Wallix AdminBastion in real-time and in real-life conditions, within the client entity. The information-security manager will be able to assess, more particularly, the level of protection of critical equipment that the WAB affords, together with the permanent audit functionalities it features and the management of IT traceability tools it integrates (such as logs and videos of administration sessions).
The VMWare ESX4 version of the WAB can be downloaded from the web at the following internet address: www.wallix.com/index.php/demos/vm-trial-version
